Dear Brand, Less is More.
You sound like a politician when you talk… and, trust me, thit is not a compliment.
You talk with very long sentences, using expensive words, in a speech that becomes too complex. Perhaps you think that, in this way, your target audience will respect you more, but I have my doubts. Actually, I think you’re wrong. What happens, in fact, is one of the following situations:
- Your audience doesn’t understand your idea/value proposition, because they don’t understand what you’re saying.
- Your audience gives up listening to you because you never finish talking… And that’s why you’ll never know what your value proposition is.
- Both previous options.
The inevitable consequence is that no one hears what you have to say. And that’s bad, because you’re wasting your resources (and your English) and you’re not getting the return you expected.
If you want to “sell your fish,” you have to talk in a simple way. Use short, clear sentences, and cut off with the chit chat already. Because one thing is certain: if no one understands you, no one will buy your product.
You have to talk to people like they’re people! As if they were your friends! Be accessible. It facilitates the life of those who hear you, in your own benefit. If you can say something with three words, don’t use nine.
Take note: talk expensive, comes out expensive.
